And might I add….in the television memorials and documentaries on 9/11 here in the States, not once have I heard the word “Iraq” mentioned. It’s a mess here. Those of us who stood against the rush to war, the xenophobia and the “freedom fries” nonsense, the revenge factor and the faux flag waving, have been “encouraged” to keep our mouths shut as the body counts rise and the mess gets deeper. There’s scary undercurrents behind the American democratic facade, and it’s found in the people themselves, whose prejudices, historical ignorance, and uninformed judgments drown out any voice of reason. Sorry, everyone. Not all of us support this.
