radioweave.com test drive of a social radio app

radioweave.com test drive of a social radio app

quick review of radioweave.com, poor UI. Great idea. smart setup, poor
choice of stock content. an import my OPML of radio feeds button would
be nice. the output i heard from the choices i made were awful, the
text to speech was really annoying. I could not find the social side
to this. “The maximum length of content that you may import is 66
seconds” WTF? really? are these like jingles or tunes or casts? this
could be something it is just trying so hard to not be.

    Brian,

Thanks for checking out our site. You’re absolutely right that our UI sucks – we’re actively working on that. And working on getting better stock content for new users. I’d never heard of OPML before but will look into supporting it if it makes sense. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry that you don’t like the text to speech audio – we licensed one of the best engines that we could find (and afford).

RadioWeave’s social side is the ability to share individual traqs and channels with your friends via Facebook, myspace, etc, sucking content in from and posting to Twitter, and audio/text replies. Replies to tweets will be sent back to Twitter as @replies if you’ve entered your Twitter credentials. RadioWeave also has its own internal concept of friends, but we realize that most people will want to connect with their existing social networks rather than creating new ones. And that’s just fine.

You’re right that the default limit for new content is 66 seconds, but “If you’re a blogger or musician and want the ability to share longer content, just let us know.” We just don’t want people uploading songs for others to hear. But RadioWeave MyMusic allows you the ability to upload music for your own personal use – and there is no time limit on the length of those traqs.

Again, thanks for the review. If you have an iPhone, please check out our iPhone app and let people know what you think (both good and bad). Feel free to email me directly at dale@radioweave.com or tweet to @radioweave if you have any questions.
