PD’s on Tax

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

does anyone in PD HQ read wikipedia? i guess so, and they agree with the following? i guess so.

The party has been a strong supporter of low taxation. As the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) stated in 2002: ‘On balance, budgets over the past 10 to 20 years have been more favourable to high income groups than low income groups, but particularly so during periods of high growth.[1] While the party was in government since 1997, the lower rate of income tax fell from 26% to 20% and the upper rate from 48% to 41%

a lower rate reduction is a reduction for all, a higher rate reduction is for >34001 euro

FF & FG coalition

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

I have not heard FG rule out FF. I have not heard FF rule out FG. the snore bore debate proved that FF & FG should join forces and give us Govt. As they are tweedle-dumb willie-o-dee.

so why do I say this? as there is no other viable alternative according to RTE “this week saturday view” poll.

party/seats/change

FF 65 (-14)
FG 47 (+15)
LP 21 (no change)
SF 11 (+6)
GP 9 (+3)
SP 2 (+1)
PD 2 (-6)
IND 9 (-6)

so FF&PD out FF&SF out FG&LP&GP out FF&LP ruled out so FF&FG get hitched to your right wing wagon, the war is over (ian & gerry) so the civil war is also over!. Elderly and now in your 80’s FF & FG please love each other to death which is nearing.

Chance to make real difference, says Daly

Friday, May 18th, 2007

GENERAL Election 2007 represents a chance for the electorate to make a real difference, according to Dublin North’s Socialist Party candidate Clare Daly.

Speaking at her campaign launch, Cllr Clare Daly said the people had a choice ‘to elect different faces from the same parties’ or a ‘candidate who has over 10 years of campaigning in the area alongside communities and workers’.

‘The outcome of this election could see any combination of parties in Government together, so when you are voting for one, you don’t really know whether that vote will be used to bring one of the other parties back into power.’

She reiterated that the Socialist Party would not enter Government with Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael or the PDs.

‘We do not stand for election and then abandon people to whatever decisions the Government or the councils make,’ she said. Socialist Party leader Joe Higgins said Daly had an ‘unrivalled record’ in the area representing working people.

‘In every corner of the constituency she has stood with people for sustainable planning in Swords, Balbriggan, Lusk and Donabate.’

Next Steps (in crutches)

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

the next step for TDs that were convicted of drink driving should have been to resign. TD’s until mid June 2007, if you were the pedestrian hit by one of these guys your next steps were in crutches.

when GV Wright announced his resignation this is what Bertie had to say

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has paid tribute to Deputy Wright.

In a statement, Mr Ahern said he was ‘a hard-working, competent and popular public representative, whose enthusiasm, experience and good humour would be missed by the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.’

I have covered these stories as they happened as the cases went to court as the bans ran out as the TDs said they would go, and now they are about to go. Them staying on will be my lasting reminder of their time in public office.

Dublin North East Calling

hear a near90FM special of DNE [podcast:MP3]

Martin Brady TD & Michael Woods TD posters have almost exclusively been placed on road sign poles. Due to the late arrival into the mix of posters all other poles were gone with Bertie FF poster & other candidates posters.

But wait; from RSA

It is an offence to erect any sign or notice that makes a traffic sign less visible to road users (Road Traffic Act 1961, Section 95, Subsection 14)

while the DNE team are down a cumman or two having stepped on the Liam Fitzgerald land mine, the poster boys may have been too cute this time.

DNE candidates eight average age 50

Most defaced posters Brody Sweeney FG
Most fallen poster comrade Larry O’Toole SF (only 2 ties & holes not staggered in corry)
Least posters - Green & Labour
Worst poster - Labour
Best Poster - Green
Most Mail - Terrance Flanagan 3:1 (3TF 1 everyone else)
Least Mail - Labour / FF (excluding Laim Fitz who aint running, got about 6 mail from him)
having told Tommy, Larry, Brody, Terrance & David in person that I was not standing. Possible Outcome.
I predict that the winners will be FF LAB SF with Dr. Michael Woods to retire.

Expect a very strong Green vote in the Fingal / Howth Ward end where the candidate is a councillor. the rest of the constituency is DCC where FG & SF are running city councillors. FG & PD are also running non councillor candidates that are high profile as far as media goes. read this sites disclaimer. I could be wrong, I could be right.

Lets have a game on the Teddy Picker

Not quick enough can I have it quicker?

Already thick and you’re getting thicker

Asuming that all things are equal,

Who’d want to be men of the people

When there’s people like you?
