how much does it cost shell to buy the favour of the Govt.?

[kevin t walsh writes over on indymedia.ie] I also ask the most pertinent question ………. Why has no-one Minister, the President, the Taoiseach, the Church not congratulated this man on his Global Achievement. In any other country, Willie Corduff would be a hero but in Ireland he is vilified by a corrupt Government bought by Shell. Would Bottler Duffy and Sherlock Holmes Williams ever wake up and write about good people for a change and stop giving Gangland Scum Airways.

so well done Willie. everyone else get wise, buy the book “Our Story the Rossport 5″ by small world media, all good book shops (blah blah), and from Rossport to Howth etc etc ask those TD’s (and their people) on the doors in the next 13 nights, why are our natural resources gifted to shell for free.

Rambo Burke I hold you and Fianna Fail accountable.

kids election questions

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Four year old said this morning (from the back of the car to her mother) ‘why are there pictures of dead people on lamppost posters?’ funny what their little heads think of, my answer is they’re not dead just politically deceased.

Also kidz ask, how do you get the posters up so high daddy? and I said “at night, election workers grow long legs and that way they can reach the tallest poles, if they can’t grow long legs they can use stilts.”

as evening falls my legs start to adjust.

I felt embarrassed

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

[debate] The Taoiseach: The Deputy is right. I felt embarrassed a few evenings ago when I watched a country with a population of more than 60 million people receive the results of its highest poll ever - 85% of the population - within two hours.

The Taoiseach: With a bit of luck our election results will be available within about five days—–

thats a run off semi finals election! not 43 constituencies x STV PR system x 166 TDs. And Bertie 2 hours was the exit polls confirmed, votes took 36-48 hours to tally.

campaigning for change

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

9 days to smoke free work in Northern Ireland; are ya ready? on a different subject but related to adverts, there is an increase in southern ireland government departments use of the airwaves in the run up to the election, these are not adverts for the ministers or the party in power but odd that these ads hit screens NOW isn’t it. So 5 weeks before an election is the best time to start a campaign to say just how well policy is progressing. most of these adverts are health related, and our taxes pay for the HSE to advertise. type of advert in poster format. MRSA was discovered in 1961, are our hands more dirty now? is MRSA a hospital-associated infection, or does it come from dirty public transport? what about the “search and destroy” strategy as we know MRSA *is* in the hospitals.

this is like preparing a country for war. look bogey man.

advert > fear > solution > policy acceptance gain > vote getter

insult is we pay for it.
