145,000+ see late late show intruder on youtube

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

Over 145,000 people have downloaded the intruder on the late late show video off google-youtube (figures based on 7 versions on 2 networks @ 2am 05/12/06) most watched version is most blogged version (no surprise)

LLS gets 661,000 watching? circa 20% “more” see the intruder on the youtube.
CCTV footage of the car coming in Nutley Lane should get sponsored by Nissan or someone. While that might be illegal RTE have form on this, they took the Vid of the M4 speeders and showed it on the telly, and pissed off the judge. Ok thats Gaybo in road safety and the intruders motive covered, were full circle in a broken revolving door… Oíche maith agus codhladh sámh.

why isn’t aertel page 192 not slotted on page 169; 16:9 anyone? and its free.

Alan Yentob journeys into the world wide web to find out how it began, who’s hanging out there, and where it’s taking us. Along the way he meets Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the web - and goes on to explore how this man’s creativity has fuelled the creativity of millions of others.

Dandy blogger Dickon Edwards and sex blogger Abby Lee; the hardcore members of the Arctic Monkeys message board; masked animator David Firth - whose cartoons have been watched by millions on the web - and Ewan Macdonald, the young Scot who wrote the millionth entry in the web phenomenon known as the Wikipedia - all feature in the film, alongside figures such as veteran director Ken Russell - currently making a film to upload to YouTube - and web pioneer Daniel Myrick, director of the Blair Witch Project. With some strong language.

late late puppini sisters

Friday, October 13th, 2006

rather that sit through the Late Late show for the puppini sisters I just TV’ed it of myspace from the sharon osbourne show. do I get a reduction in tv licence fee for this? no; someone must still make the content and pay the camera men; or do RTE just lose a viewer of adverts; I already own a renault; if I watch content on a network divorced from its creator, how does its creator monetise on it. ? So tv eye balls are moving to you tubed content and YouTube (google) content is moving to TV. Well if not YouTube then Revver content; rev2.org reports

In what seems like a significant move, online user-generated content player Revver has teamed up with FameTV, which is set to launch in the UK on November 6th as part of their Sky Digital Network and promises to be the world’s first channel to run fully on user-generated content. The official details can be found on the Revver blog.

I found this not via tailrank but via a good old scan of the Astra Satellite system as I do every other week. I found Fame TV on live (yes live) test of its TV GUI .. see 11428 H 22000-5/6 @ 28.x East

UGC has arrived on TV like podcasts have hit radio. Content is King; the King is in his altogether (web1.oh-shit); then web2.oh-my-gawd; I’ve got the picture.

blocking myspace ads

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

as google goes into myspace ads for $900M, it all became too much for me, the ads served to my profile were getting far to racy for a family PC (cop on Tom before your 100M cop off!) I blocked the ads with the hosts file in windows/somewhere/etc but then added this fine tool HostsMan which goes far further to block even the tame ads on RTE.ie via the same Hosts file method only with 47,000+ advert sites with update options!!! it seems MySpace deals well with the missing ads in terms of design, RTE looks like a sticker book with all the stickers removed with a knife…. :-)

BeBo Bands is live

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

bebo and the ‘big one’, its out and its called BeBo bands.

first thoughts, less that 1% of the bebo community will be a band… 50% + will play the tunes, so to me the focus is more on the end user in 2.0, so not focus on the band but the beboer DJ.

small set of bands in there, player is flash and its in a pop up, pay attention myspace, as I click around I keep my sound, on second thoughts don’t tell Tom. The radio or player does not auto play so BeBo TV is king still. The many hours users will love it. making and trading play lists.
you can share playlists with others, here is mine [ bebo playlist ]

more later.

BeBo the new pirate radio

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

Pirate Radio challenged the establishment
your parents hated you listening to it
the authorities tried badly to shut it down
and the more they did the more loyal the kidz were to the medium
BeBo.com like pirate radio before it, is flourishing in Ireland
pirate radio broke new music acts, bebo is about to.

As Social Networking moves into TV and radio,(last week bebo renamed its flash box “BeBo TV”) I expect the Pirate analogy to grow. The “Pirate” part of Pirate Radio referred to an era that included ships and was never really a tag that stuck in terms of Piracy like Napster may have felt a few years back. So think of these social network sites as “Free Radio”; doing to a medium something the establishment must learn before it can smother it with consumerism and capitalism. And its not just bebo. there are 6000 plus Irish musicians “playing” on MySpace.com a healthy 1% of the worlds artists counting for 600,000 among Myspace’s 90 million users…. so “don’t take my BeBo away” and if you don’t want to make it the hottest property in town (and it is) then don’t give it all that establishment attention. the Kidz wanna rock, and its not txting or FM radio or compact cassettes or CB radios or the transistor radio’s this time. its Internet Radio Sharing Trading Listening Compelling 12-18 hour sticky video / audio / textual viral EXPERIENCE. No wonder the parents don’t understand, the over 40’s have a media attention span that includes 140 minutes of Gay Byrne (now Kenny) Late Late Show as a stable diet. So while my parents didn’t understand the lyrics of Paul Weller and the antics of Kenny Everett neither did my grandparents understand LuLu Twiggy Mick Jagger or Kenny Everett (the first time round). schools out for summer, child safety expert Rachel O’Connell joins BeBo on July 17th, expect a few more stories like these this summer, BBC[July 4] BBC[July 3] BBC[June 29]
