p.s. the day I see a pope abandon his 'prince of the Church' privileges, and kneel down in front of his 'inferiors' to kiss their hands .. or their feet .. instead of the other way around, I'll believe that the Church is on the road to embodying the values of Christ.

Forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

Garda collusion. Nice.

As the Vatican announces the impending canonisation of Canada's first saint (Frère André), I'm struck at how desperate it all seems. How superficial.

As the focus remains on the monsters, let's not forget the children, many of whom are now grown men and women, with the scars that come with this horrible experience.

Whenever an adult infuriates or betrays me, I try to have compassion for the child within. You never know what someone has gone through - often because shame silences them.

My heart goes out to all of them.

Thanks for sharing.

Sean Udon, could I ask if you work in Dublin Airport or for the DAA?

Ryanair, I'm sure could not open a terminal in Hangar 6 as it would legally go against terms & conditions in the contract that the DAA/IDA would insert.

Perhaps Mr O'Leary has ulterior motives for leasing/buying Hangar 6.
Embarrassing the Government, DAA & Aer Lingus?

However if genuine, it would certainly guarantee employment for highly skilled workers - who would otherwise I imagine, have to emigrate (Glasgow Prestwick?). Who knows if Ryanair would backtrack on employing former SR Technic workers however there would surely be a national uproar after all this fuss. I'm sure though they would have more conditions on employment with regard to Union powers and so on.

I'm interested in your claims on Ryanair employment for my own benefit, are they correct or are you supposing that they are true?

Could it be possible that the Airport Tax is a shortsighted levee and detrimental to long term growth & sustainability of the airport?
Have European Airports dropped the Tax?

WHO DOES MR OLEARY THINK HE IS FOOLING

MR OLEARY WANTS HANGAR 6 SO HE CAN OPEN HIS OWN TERMINAL AND OPERATE HIS OWN CHECKIN AND BOARDING POINTS WITHOUT PAYING FEES TO DUBLIN AIRPORT AUTHORITY.

THIS IN TURN IF IT EVER COMES TO PASS WOULD MOST LIELY COST JOBS
IN DUTY FREE SHOPPING
IN CAFE AND RESTAURANTS,
IN SECURITY
IN CAR PARKING

AND I DOUBT VERY MUCH HE HAS ANY INTENTION OF EMPLOYING ANYBODY

HE WILL PROBABLY USE AGENCY WORKERS OR TRANSIENT WORKERS ON LOW PAID SALARIES .. WHO THINK IF I JUST GET THE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE IT WILL OPEN DOORS IN OTHER COMPANIES. PEOPLE WHO THEN FIND THEMSELVES TIED INTO CONTRACTS THAT CHARGE THEM A TRAINING FEE WHEN THEY TRY TO RESIGN FROM JOBS THAT DONT PAY THE BILLS

CAN ANYONE ADVISE WHAT THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF SERVICE FOR A GROUND STAFF MEMNER OR CABIN CREW MEMBER FOR RYAN AIR IS ...
AND HOW DOES IT RELATE TO OTHER EUROPEAN AIRLINES

LETS LOOK FOR A LONG TERM EMPLOYMENT SOLUTION THAT BENIFITS THE COUNTRY AND NOT BE SHORT SIGHTED LIKE OUR POLITICIANS AND FAT CATS.

I SAY NO TO MR OLEARY DESIRE AND GLTTONY TO OWN HANGAR 6
IF HE IS SERIOUS ABOUT 300 JOBS

ACCEPT THE EUR10.00 DEPARTURE TAX IN DUBLIN TERMINAL WHICH IS IMPROVING DUBLIN AIRPORT FACILITIES AND STOP MAKING MISCHIEF.

I'm reading this differently and seeing a lot of personality in play.

If buying out the Aer Lingus lease keeps aviation technology working at Dublin airport, I think it's a win for north Dublin. There's an international rate table for aviation maintenance. It's a skilled sector that's normally far removed on the wage scales from other service occupations.

Nearly 2 years now since he demise of RTÉ Radio One on medium wave, I think it was a poor decision and premature, since it did affect the elderly and less abled.

As well as areas in the North such as Belfast and parts of Antrim who cant get an RTE FM transmission! I think this is in breach of the spirit and the word of the Belfast Agreement, there should be some arrangement similar to the one providing for access to RTE TV and TG4 in the North.

I agree LW is seldom an option on radios sold nowadays and in indeed over the past 25 years FM/AM(MW) was the default radio options. So people in the UK who even have a LW on their bands may not be use to tuning into it even.

Also Long Wave has a limited listening public and experience some reception black spots in the UK (I believe they have raised the power last year!) this again limits the scope for RTE providing a service to the diaspora in the UK via LW.

Brian,

Thanks for checking out our site. You're absolutely right that our UI sucks - we're actively working on that. And working on getting better stock content for new users. I'd never heard of OPML before but will look into supporting it if it makes sense. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry that you don't like the text to speech audio - we licensed one of the best engines that we could find (and afford).

RadioWeave's social side is the ability to share individual traqs and channels with your friends via Facebook, myspace, etc, sucking content in from and posting to Twitter, and audio/text replies. Replies to tweets will be sent back to Twitter as @replies if you've entered your Twitter credentials. RadioWeave also has its own internal concept of friends, but we realize that most people will want to connect with their existing social networks rather than creating new ones. And that's just fine.

You're right that the default limit for new content is 66 seconds, but "If you're a blogger or musician and want the ability to share longer content, just let us know." We just don't want people uploading songs for others to hear. But RadioWeave MyMusic allows you the ability to upload music for your own personal use - and there is no time limit on the length of those traqs.

Again, thanks for the review. If you have an iPhone, please check out our iPhone app and let people know what you think (both good and bad). Feel free to email me directly at dale@radioweave.com or tweet to @radioweave if you have any questions.

I remember 13.

Isn't that one of life's greatest ironies? When we're children we can't wait to grow up. And when we're all grown up we wistfully wish we could be children again.

Happy birthday Miss Vanessa - enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer you right now, at this very moment. 13 is a beautiful age.

Isn’t that one of life’s greatest ironies? When we’re children we can’t wait to grow up. And when we’re all grown up we wistfully wish we could be children again.

Happy birthday Miss Vanessa – enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer you right now, at this very moment. 13 is a beautiful age.
